A complete renovation and transformation of the dark corridors in the basement level of Oslo Cathedral School, to become an exciting museum and exhibitions room. A fascinating and unique assignment for FabLab Design, digging deep into our national history and then developing a design solution that presented these artefacts in a sensitive and informative way. The extraordinary old and rare book collections can now be properly displayed for the first time. The collections make a valuable addition to Oslo Cathedral School's library, and are a starting point for scholarly research. The old library has been given a new entrance which makes it possible to offer fixed opening hours to students and teaching staff. The rooms serve as both exhibition space and library reading spaces complete with modern library facilities. Visitors honour the historical traditions by signing into a large hand-bound visitors book, and then are admitted into a modern library space with computers, copiers, scanners and access to a range of online academic databases.
