From a clinic in 1916 to an exciting new apartment hotel in 2018
In a historical neighborhood of imposing townhouses in Oslo, the surgeon Einar Fredrik Lindboe built a clinic in 1916. The building has been at various times, a hospital, a women´s and maternity clinic and an outpatient clinic until the property was acquired in 2015 by Saja Eiendom. FabLab Design has worked closely throughout the renovation process with the new owners as well as the tenants operating the hotel. The clinic has been completely transformed into an apartment hotel with 54 individual rooms. Working with a listed building that has both interior and exterior protections has been an exciting challenge. It meant a lot of research and insight into the history of both the neighborhood and the building itself, as well as careful attention to painting techniques and materials. All architectural details were restored in the best possible way to meet the needs of today´s hotel guests and future generations.
