Torvald Klaveness is a company that has always challenged the status quo. Shipping is no longer just about moving items from A to B, and industry leaders need to embrace new technologies to digitally transform and make their operations data-centric. Continuous change and adaptation are at the core of Torvald Klaveness´vision, to use innovation to stay adaptive and evolve the basic shipping business model. When they approached Fablab Design to upgrade their Oslo head office, it was exactly this dynamic spirit that we wanted to capture in our concept. Combining classic and modern, with a clear thematic reference to shipping and maritime. We used Royal Blue as a basic colour signal, matched with light Norwegian wood to create different work zones and warm hues. We also installed good acoustic solutions to support an open office landscape. Displaying brand elements in external meeting zones was important, as were explicit references to sustainability principles and the incorporation of modern technologies. Including brand profiling for each of the work zones comprising Klaveness Digital, MMC and KSM. When we first visited the premises, a collection of beautiful model ships were stowed away. We created bespoke glass, cases and shelving on wheels, allowing these wonderful artefacts to take on a new function as room dividers, able to be viewed and appreciated from several angles.
